Playing Doctor: Creating Realistic Medical Play Scenes

November 23, 2022 @ 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM EST

Tickets Available Here

Want more terrifying realism in your medical scenes? Whether you’re a true-to-life role player or one who likes to turn reality up a few notches, this workshop aims to help with both approaches. In this version of the workshop, we will focus on some of the frightening characters from our medical nightmares – the Plague Doctor and the Evil Scientist while also keeping a firm grounding in reality.

First, we will look at the huge world of medical fetishism. From historical to modern medical practice (and maybe a few peeks at the possible future), we will discuss some of the most popular kinks. We will also touch on some basic medical terminology from the past and present and look at resources for further research.

Next, we will set the scene. There are two main approaches; the more budget (and space) friendly version and the fantasy, fully equipped playroom. We will look at how to approach each as well as ways to combine the two so that you can have the scenes you want in a way that suits your means. I will show off my medical play space that strikes that perfect balance for me. Don’t worry, I will share my secrets for finding toys and equipment at a reasonable price!

Costuming can also add to the realism of a scene. It’s also an easy way to create an atmosphere on a budget through the appropriate use of PPE and medical clothing.

Finally, it’s time to learn some hands-on skills. We will learn some medical basics, like how to take a set of vitals. I will demonstrate a basic, physical exam and give options for making it more “uncomfortable” if you wish. We will discuss various aspects of more invasive exams but there will not be any live demos of those at this time due to COVID-19 constraints.

Please Note: This is a subject that can easily get into nasty territory. We will not be discussing themes of medical abuse nor perpetuating medical myths about the mentally ill, disabled or other marginalized groups. That’s not scary, it’s ableism.

Recording:

If you are unable to attend the live class, it will be recorded. The recording and slides, as well as any links or other resources discussed in class will be sent to all ticket holders. Only my feed and the presentation are recorded, none of the participants are recorded, the chat is not recorded. The recording of the class is only available to ticket holders and will not be available to anyone else.

Presenter Bio:

Morgan Thorne has been practising BDSM all her adult life. She got an introduction to kink through the Queer community in the early 1990s and knew she had found ‘her people’.

Morgan has also spent a decade working as a Professional Dominant, which has allowed her to expand her skills as both a Top and a Dominant. Morgan has been offering workshops, lectures and BDSM training for a number of years as well. She has a successful Youtube channel where she educates about D/s relationships, BDSM basics and various kinky skills.

She is the author of two successful books about BDSM, including “Exploring BDSM: A Workbook for Couples (or More!) Discovering Kink“. A follow-up book is expected in early 2021.

Morgan identifies as both a Sadist and a Dominant. She enjoys playing with a variety of people of all orientations/genders/identities. BDSM is an integral part of her personal, romantic relationships. Morgan is both asexual and pan-romantic.

Prior to her work as a Professional Dominant, Morgan worked in health care. This has allowed her to gain a more thorough understanding of health and safety concerns in kink. She retired due to an injury that lead to chronic pain and disability. It also spurred her interest in medical play, a way to continue to use the skills she learned in health care and to find comfort in the loss of a much-loved career.

Morgan has been active in various forms of activism, including LGBTQIA rights and sex worker rights. She is a strong advocate for equality and the human rights of all people.
